Are You Travelling? Medical Supplies You Mustn’t Forget

Travelling is fun but no one wants to get sick during travelling and you cannot expect when an emergency may come in what way. So, carrying some medical supplies is a basic thing to take care of during travelling. If you are travelling, you should know that medical supplies fall under three categories during trips. They are prescription drugs if you are already suffering from any ailment, non-prescription drugs for common fever, cold, cough, etc., and non-pharmaceutical medical supplies like bandages, needles, syringes, sutures, etc. Remember to waterproof the medical supplies if your plan includes any water activities. You need to take care of the activities you planned and set up medical supplies accordingly in your packaging. You can buy all the necessary supplies at once in any pharmacy before starting for your trip or carefully pack early along with your other packaging.

Ø For adventure trips, you must carry plasters, butterfly closures, tape, safety pins, sterile gauze, wipes for a bee sting, itch relief, antiseptic cream for cuts, etc., come handy and help the injured person.

Ø If your adventure is risky and really long, there is a high risk for big injuries. So, you must carry zinc oxide tape, blister plasters, burn gel, pain killers like Ibuprofen, thermometer, strips, scissors, tweezers, and disposable gloves.

Ø A basic first aid kit is minimum to maintain in your vehicle for medium or long journeys. Foil blanket, medical plaster tape, eye wash, bandages, disposable gloves, Dettol, and other supplies are basic in any first aid kit.

Ø As dressing is common for wounds and comes handy in a lot of situations, experts recommend using Bactigras which is an antiseptic and soft paraffin dressing. It soothes the wound by reducing the inflammation and infection at the same time.

Ø You should also consider carrying medical supplies like triangular bandages, instant cold pack, ORS solutions, sick bags, and sun cream while travelling with more people to avoid common attacks like sunstroke, dehydration, headache, or anything else.

Ø If you are travelling to third world countries or remote areas near your place, medical experts recommend carrying scalpels, hypodermic needles, silk sutures, and syringes. Mosquito nets can help you if you have to stay in a less sanitized area and water purification tablets come handy in some circumstances.

Ø Along with packing your prescribed tablets from a professional in the medical kit, you should also keep your prescription copies with you in case of emergencies.
